Abstract:
Collection consists primarily of location files and well records for oil field development in California from the 1920s to
the 1960s. Location files contain correspondence, maps, legal documents and notes; well records are standarized forms documenting
exploration of particular sites. The collection also contains a selection of exhibits from a court case identified as the
Armstrong-Kettleman Hills lawsuit, authorized by the board of directors of the Kettleman North Dome Association and with the
cooperation of Shell Oil Company, prepared by Martin van Couvering in 1940; well records for the Kettleman area, which appear
to have been made by Harding, may be relevant to this case.
